
Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease that is contracted through intimate sexual contact. Chlamydia infection is caused by the bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis.
Chlamydia often has no symptoms in men or women, and is therefore called ‘The Silent Disease’. However, Chlamydia infects the urethra in men; in women, Chlamydia infects the urethra and the cervix. Chlamydia infection can spread to the reproductive organs.
